ROSS McCrorie will face weeks not months out with a foot injury after receiving good news from medics this week.
The youngster met with his specialist this week to review a scan and was told he would not require surgery.
McCrorie, who suffered his latest setback while in Florida earlier this month, now requires rest to rehabilitate him.
Graeme Murty told RangersTV:
“Ross has been to see his specialist, we are hopeful he doesn’t need a surgical intervention which is great; it is just rest because of the damage sustained to his foot.
“He was incredibly brave playing through a lot of pain; fortunately we don’t think it has caused any long term damage which is good.
“It is just a case of resting it down until he is pain free and he won’t need anything else other than time, which is hard to tell a 19-year-old when he is playing for Rangers first-team.
“We need to make sure we do the right thing for his long term future. It’ll be weeks not months.”
It is not so good news for Ryan Jack though, the midfielder needs surgery on the knee injury he sustained against Motherwell in December.
Murty explained: “Ryan is going to need surgery on his knee unfortunately.
“I am really feeling for him because the injury didn’t present as that when he first sustained it and we were hopeful it was similar to Ross’ and just a contact injury but it hasn’t turned out to be that way.
“He is going to need surgery and he is going to be out for a significant period, we don’t know exactly how long but it will be longer than we and he had anticipated.
“We have to manage his disappointment and frustration and make sure we do the right thing for him.
“I wouldn’t say he was out for the season, it is an extended period but hopefully we will get him back before the end.”
Kenny Miller could be in the contention for a return against Ross County this weekend – the striker returned to training this week after tearing his hamstring against Hibernian on December 13.
Murty continued:
“Kenny Miller is doing a full training session today; we will have our eye on him because he has suffered a significant injury.
“He is desperate to be back, he is running around like an 18-year-old again. Kenny trains at the level of intensity; he knows what it takes to keep his body in tip top condition.”
