GERS striker Eduardo Herrera says the Light Blues are determined to secure a place in the League Cup final tomorrow.
The Mexican striker played an integral part in booking a place in tomorrow’s semi final after he came on against Partick Thistle in extra time in the last round.
Herrera was a ninetieth minute substitute for Alfredo Morelos and he set up a goal for Daniel Candeias before scoring himself with an audacious flick.
Speaking at a visit to the Rangers Soccer Schools Autumn courses yesterday, Herrera said: “It’s a really big game and we are are looking forward to it a lot. We want to win trophies with Rangers and this is an opportunity for us to get to a final.
“When you get to a final you can battle for the title and that’s very important for us as players.
“The players who arrived at the club recently want to help the club to get back to where it belongs and to winning titles.”
“I want to win as many trophies with Rangers as I can. We know it is a very important match and we know it is going to be tough.
“Motherwell are in a good moment, but we are Rangers and we want to be in the final. It’s going to be good game for us as players but also for the fans.”
“They have strong points, like every team does, but they also have their weaknesses. We need to focus on what we need to do on the field.
“We are playing well, we are getting the results that we want and we are getting the momentum and want to extend that in this cup and get to the final.”
Reflecting on the win over Partick Thistle in the last round, Herrera said: “It was a nice night for me. It was in the last minutes and we had already made three substitutions and I thought that I wasn’t going to come in.
“Then I remembered that there was a fourth change in extra time and I got on in the match when it was tied.
“It was a nice day because I made an assist then scored a goal. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team this Sunday and hope we can get to the final.”
