Cyriel Dessers has received a lot of stick this season , a lot of it from me and most of it deserved .He has missed chances galore and some of them could have put games to bed for us and turned losses and draws into wins however I can`t believe pundits lining up to criticise him after Sundays two goal match winning display .He has been an enigma but credit where its due. He scored two good goals and had another couple of half chances but nothing that anyone should be saying that he missed easy chances for his hatrick.
He is even being criticised for passing to Silva when he subsequently fell over , " a real striker " would have gone for the shot according to some , but I say that at that angle Gordon could well have blocked it and that as a good team player he did exactly the right thing , he played a good weighted pass to give Silva a tap in , its not Dessers fault he made an arse of it . I remember the great Arsenal team of the invincible era and that was one of their strengths they would set up their team mates for tap ins rather than be greedy ,its a strength in a player not a weakness .
Now we have Kris Boyd piling in with Dessers hasn`t scored again the scum or in big games , this from the guy who , in his whole career at Ibrox scored ONE O.F goal and was dropped by Walter in big European games ( didn`t he miss a sitter in the last minute in Villareal to put us into the next round in Europe , under McLeish ). He was a great domestic striker for us but he seems to have a short memory.
Now I`m not claiming Dessers is the answer or is suddenly a great striker , that would make me a hypocrite ,but let him have his moment of glory , he deserves it and maybe it will inspire him to greater things in the run in to the end of the season.

I'm with that,Dessers delivered in a big game for us,and hopefully he'll take confidence from that. Also remember Boyd spunking a sitter against Scum at Ibrox that we eventually lost 2-0,after that other "faultless" ex-Rangers blowhard Foster have the ball away to Samaras.
Think in a lot of folks eyes he is taking over from Morelos so every miss is picked up and scrutinised, same folk forget that Morelos used to need 7 or 8 chances to find the net, missing from a yard against the scum springs to mind. In the market we shop that is the sort of striker we get…Could be worse we could have spunked £30 million on Silva like Wolves done.
If we had pretty much anyone else fit enough to play I expect they’d be in before him. Would anyone be happy he was our best striker next season?
I do think if he had someone alongside him he’d be better. Scored some good goals but given time to think and/or control a ball and invariably he’ll miss, or fall over.
Not a fan but he is our first choice currently so I try not to be too critical of him.
If he scores the 2nd against Ross County then we wouldn’t have lost. Good save at Ross County and same with Hearts/Gordon on Sunday when he got the second one on the rebound.
It's the amount of chances he misses that is the problem. Only 13 goals in the league is shocking for the amount of chances he gets. I honestly think if we played Tavernier up front instead, he'd be more clinical.
At least he's no on the treatment table in hisney spat the dummy oot when getting pelters, but some of his misses are shocking and have cost us but a suppose it works both ways,Lammers is doing well and being played as a center forward where he says is his position in an interview last week, wee always seem to play players out of their position and they get peltered in down tools fckin bugs me.
On reflection, I think the reason the bold Cyriel pisses me off so much is because I firmly believe we would have already had this league won if we had any sort of decent striker this season.
In the first two Bin Dippers fc games alone, he missed guilt edged chances which would have meant two draws (at the very least) instead of two losses. That's at least 6 points where we should be better off. That's before we even get to all the countless sitters he has spunked up in games where we have dropped points (Motherwell & Ross C spring to mind but let's be honest, there will be others)
No doubt there will be some who will point to the times he has "won" us points with his goals contributions, but I guarantee in those same games, he will have missed a handful of great chances as well as the ones he took....chances that a run of the mill SPL striker would bury.
Any side with serious title ambitions simply cannot have such an inept striker as their main no.9

To me,he's another Tavernier. .people go kn about goal contribution, but don't take into account the misses, goals given away etc....
Needs to many touches and still can't control the ball , not for me , though he doesn't seem to lack self belief, he certainly has a lack of talent Not good enough , Morelos was better than him and I thought he was pish as well for most of his Rangers career barring a 6/7 month golden streak , when surprisingly he had lost a bit of weight
Always try n give him the benefit of the doubt He’s another we will q end up punting at a loss and wherever he ends up he’ll light the place up Got to admire his mentality tbh the abuse he takes and never hides shows he has it in spades to be a Ranger unfortunately his ability doesn’t match the mentality
