Congratulations to the Rangers U18s who won the Scottish Youth Cup last night by beating the Lambs ( baby sheep ) by 2 goals to one after going a goal behind .Equaliser was a penalty for a deliberate hand ball when the young defender stuck his elbow out to block a cross but as usual because its us , it was "soft" and should never have been given according to some . The usual biased guff being spouted by pundits but no big fuss made of the most blatant sending off that you`ll ever see not given when Josh Gentles is cleaned out by the sheep keeper when he beats him to the ball outside the box .He did knock it past him and but when it was cleared off the line , the free kick should have been awarded as no advantage was achieved .The foul happened after Gentles had played it past the keeper and he had no opportunity to run on to it , there was never enough pace on it for it to go in because it wasn`t meant as a shot .Even if it was, the tackle was still an ordering off offence .
Hellish having to watch another game ruined by the Scottish Beeb foisting Richard Foster on us again as co commentator , the guys as big a dick as a pundit that he was as a player
Some good performances , Nsio looked silky in midfield , Stevens showed pace and control in the wide areas and the big goalie Munn was outstanding .He is a big confident boy with lots of presence and looks a real prospect if we can hold on to him . Worrying though that our three big talents are all boys we`ve brought in from outside this country .To be fair young Grant and Gentles looked decent too though.
Our Ladies also won last night to go level with the scummettes at the top of the table with a big OF game to come on Monday .It wasn`t much of game from what I saw but really we ain`t doing the woman`s game any favour by playing their games on plastic pitches like we did last night . We complain about these surfaces when we play there a couple of times a season but far too many of the womans league games are played on plastic ,How are they supposed to improve the quality and attract fans when they are having to try to play on these awful surfaces and, while I`m on a rant , they got TV coverage last night ( albeit on Alba , which is another issue for me ) but the flood lighting was so poor you could hardly make out the far side of the pitch. We don`t have the money they have in England but we can surely do better than this .
The ladies are still on track for their treble , as are the mens team and with the boys winning the Youth Cup last night it is still possible for the club to have one helluva season if a few results go the right way.
