Apparently Goldson has tear on medial ligament sustained in training and out for remainder of season. Personally I think he’s been told he’s surplus to requirements and will be gone in summer anyway Smacks of a face saver imho
Seriously some of our supporters are pleased that one of players has a serious injury and are even accusing the club of lying about it. I know he has been out of form and deservedly left out the side but to say that the club would make up an injury , with 5 games to go , so that they can let him go in the summer is nonsense . First of all what happens if Balogun or Souttar get injured are we seriously saying we would rather have Davies who hasn`t played in months . Not me .Also if they were making up an injury they could go with something a lot less serious than a damaged medial ligament to rule him out for a few weeks until the end of the season. They could look up their records for Balogun ,Davies, Souttar , Yilmaz , Barisic , Sterling , Raskin , Jack ,Wright , Matondo ,Roofe , Dowell , Lawrence and Sima who have all missed two or three weeks with a lot less of an injury.
Personally I wish the big man a speedy recovery to continue his career wherever it may be , he has been a great servant to Rangers and I suspect he will continue to be so next season .By the way they can`t just quietly let him go even if they wanted to unless he agrees to it , he has a contract and they work both ways.

Where did anyone say they’re pleased he’s got an injury? Clement has lossed faith in him the only explanation for his recent sudden disappearance Playing a lot of games doesn’t make him a great servant. Dont wish him any ill will but the bottom line is he’s really never been good enough and been fortunate to get as many games, it’s all about opinions, mine is he should have been gone before Joe Worrall who was a far superior CB in every aspect of the position.
I happy he won't play for us again, injury or not.His only assets have been fitness and longevity.. No pace, poor in air for a big man, lack of awareness, never a leader, weak at water mentality

You started this thread by reporting the injury to which someone replied " good" .You then accused the club of making up the injury to generate an excuse for him to quietly leave which is nonsense . He has been dropped because he wasn`t playing well , which was absolutely the right decision but it doesn`t mean that Clement has decided to get rid of him and even if it did he could just leave him out the last 5 games , he doesn`t have to make up a story . If he isn`t injured all that does is take away an option we might need before the end of the season especially as we have no-one else .
In my opinion , and that of the club , he has been a great servant , playing the amount of games he has over the time he has , whether he has been a great player or not is another argument altogether but he has served the club well under four managers who all had him as first pick. Suggests he must have been doing something right . Lets see if things magically improve in the last few games , last week in Paisley didn`t look much better to me .
As for Joe Worrall he wasn`t actually our player so that kind of decided how long he stayed and like most loan players was never committed to the club and it showed .
I still think Goldson & Balogun are our best CB pairing when on form. Goldson is off form & Souttar is looking shaky in spells. Only other options are Ben Davies or Leon King. Doesn’t fill me with confidence.
Anyone who thinks that any combination that includes Goldson in our best defence isn’t a Rangers fan OR hasn’t got a fkn clue about football. I won’t celebrate an injury but I’m happy he won’t be involved in our run in.

Bit over the top reaction. Would you say that to Billy if you were sitting in the pub over a beer. Blown the comment out of proportion.
Let the others come after us. We welcome the chase. It is healthy for us. We will never hide from it. Never fear, inevitably we shall have our years of failure, and when they arrive, we must reveal tolerance and sanity.

Yes I would because I don`t agree with what he said and if we were mates sitting in the pub face to face we would have a debate about it because we have a different perspective on it . Thats what the forum is about ( note , I never made any personal comments , as I would never do that ) .I also never said he wished Godson ill only that he thought the injury was made up , if so he kept it going at the weekend by wearing a knee brace . We have debates on here all the time thats what the forum is for , Billy has already responded and he seems to have no problem with my comments or I`m sure he would let me know.

Never accused of making any personal comments. Your right everyone is entitled to their opinion. In my opinion Billys original comment was taken the wrong way and blown out of proportion.

Was only putting out there he’s done for the season have no ill will towards the guy just don’t think he’s good enough for Rangers over the course of his time here Never takes responsibility for his own mistakes and quick to point the finger at everyone else I do believe the club would try n protect him especially after last season debacle where he appeared to be holding the club to ransom for the simple reason an alleged trouble maker isnt a very sellable asset Only an opinion not made with any ulterior motive,if he does move on and I think he will I wish him the best.
Moving on from the debate about Goldson and lets say he goes , what would you do with the other three ,Souttar , Balogun and Davies ? Who else should go and who would you keep ?
Going back to your earlier point , Joe Worrall is unwanted at Forest and is on loan in Turkey , would you take him back permanently now that he is a bit older and wiser or what about Scott McKenna on a free from Forest and out on loan in Denmark .He is Scottish which is a positive ,knows the league and even scores the odd goal from corners .

Would one or both make us stronger at the back ?
Keep balogun, sign worrall in an instant. mckenna is real tim so no. Souttar and Davies? Keep both.

The issue with Balogun is how often he's out injured. He can't be relied upon to be available for the majority of a season and that's a problem when he's arguably our best defender but I'm also not forgetting the howlers he's also had particularly in Europe.

Thats the problem , you could make a case for replacing all 4 of our current centre backs .We`ve debated Goldson to death but , Balogun is getting on a bit , as you say suffers from injuries and is not immune to the odd howler , getting sent off at the piggery springs to mind. Davies just lacks physicality and can turn a good game into a bad one with one missed tackle or weak clearance and Souttar looks great at times but seems to lack concentration as witnessed by his mad 15 minutes in the cup semi when he appeared to have switched sides and a similar moment to gift Motherwell a goal at Ibrox .He is probably the one who would definitely stay but he would benefit from having a left sided partner so that he could slot into the right side where he is more comfortable.
For me, the maximum we can allow to leave is two out of the four but which two is the question .

There is also Leon King who I think the club needs to make a decision on or loan out to get experience.

Was about to post about him.
We’ve either decided he’s not a centre half or he’s not gona make it here.
