RANGERS Football Club can today confirm the signing of Albanian internationalist Eros Grezda on a four-year contract, subject to receiving visa and international clearance.
The 23-year-old winger from Gjakova started his senior career with Slovenian clubs Aluminij and Zavrc before moving to Croatia to sign for Lokomotiva and then Osijek, where he played with Gers left-back Borna Barisic.
Grezda did not feature in Osijek’s recent Europa League qualifying matches against the Light Blues because of injury but the talented playmaker is highly rated with former AC Milan and Real Madrid defender Christian Panucci, who is the manager of Albania, describing him as “fast, direct and a player who makes things happen on the pitch”.
Eros becomes Steven Gerrard’s 14th signing for the Light Blues and the manager believes he will be big hit with the Rangers supporters.
“He is an excellent player and the fans will love him because he can contribute in the final third.
“He’s really quick, very direct and he comes in with international experience.
“According to Borna and Nikola Katic he was by a mile Osijek’s best player last season.
“He is a very dangerous player and while you never want to see anyone injured, we are thankful he wasn’t available to play against us.
“All going well, hopefully he’ll be a big player for us moving forward.”
Grezda has made six appearances for Albania having previously played for his country at Under-21 level.
He has one goal for the senior squad which came in a 3-2 friendly victory over Turkey in Antalya on 13 November 2017.
Albania will be the visitors to Hampden for Scotland’s first ever Nations League fixture on September 10 with Grezda likely to be included in Panucci’s squad.
